Commercial Refurbishment with Challenging Timelines

Project Brief

To convert/refurbish basement classrooms and stores to three science labs, an office, and a preparation room.
The job was to be completed in 8 weeks over the summer holiday and the main aspect of this project was to construct lab work benches.

The Process

All fixtures and fittings were removed and wall and floor finishes stripped out.
The layout was changed by blocking up existing openings and creating news ones and one large room was divided with stud partitioning.
A vestibule was created off the stairs and the first fixing installed by the plumbers which included moving radiators and fitting new pipework.
Electricians installed the new emergency lighting and once everything was plastered and clean the vinyl flooring was laid.
The next process was to install the lab benches which were constructed around kitchen base units.
Once the benches were built the sinks, taps and counter top points were installed.
The carpenters continued by fixing skirtings, hanging fire doors, building shelving and fitting a small kitchen in the preparation room.
Sink and kitchen splash-backs were tiled and the labs, office, preparation room, hall and stairs decorated.

The Result

The project was completed on time with minimal disruption to the school.
We created three, modern, fully-equipped science labs, an office and a preparation room for the science department.
