Proposed Block Paving Car DisplayATJBuilding & Groundworks undertake comercial Block Paving contracts in Northampton, Milton Keynes, Kettering Wellingbrough and Corby. This particular job to create a block paved area for Kia Garage to display a new model cars.

Pavers Being LayedThe first task was to remove all shubbery and grub the roots out from the proposed area.  Next the ground level was reduced aproximatley 300mm below finish floor level, this was deeper than usual but the top soil was deeper than expected.

Most of the area was already curbed but a row of edgings was required to retain the front edge. We set the edgings out  square to the existing curbs ensuring it worked full blocks to reduce unnessary cutting. The edging were laid on 200mm or concrete  haunched front and back.

Block Paving Miltopn KeynesNext aproximatly 200mm of type 1 MOT was laid and compacted to the base. Next aproxmaitley  sharpe sand was laid and roughly leveled out, after the sharpe sand was well compacted the area was screeded off leaving aproxmaitly 50mm of sand ready for the block pavers to be laid. The pavers were laid by hand to a herringbone pattern.

Once the body of pavers were laid all the cutting in around the perimeter was done with a block splitter. Silver sand was then sweeped in to the joints and the Block Paving was well compacted once again. More silver was sweeped into the joints then area cleaned off ready for use.
